About SUD Allies
The mission of SUD Allies is to expand resources to combat substance use disorder in Illinois communities. Administered by PHIMC, SUD Allies supports agencies throughout Illinois in providing prevention, treatment, and recovery services. SUD Allies AmeriCorps members engage clients, youth, and providers through a variety of comprehensive services.
SUD Allies is interested in hearing from applicants about what substance use programming and services are needed in their community, particularly in response to COVID-19. Primarily, SUD Allies members carry out two main service activities – case management and health education – within its program; however, SUD Allies supports innovative programs and encourages applicants to think creatively about how an AmeriCorps member might meet the needs of people impacted by or at risk for SUD. Funding for this AmeriCorps program is made available by Serve Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service, a part of Illinois Department of Public Health, in partnership with Corporation for National and Community Service.

About NHC Chicago
NHC Chicago, an operating site of National Health Corps, places AmeriCorps members in local organizations to provide service by connecting those who need it most with health and wellness education, benefits, and services.
NHC Chicago is interested in partnering with organizations that can provide service activities focused on COVID-19 prevention and response, increasing physical activity and improving nutrition in order to reduce obesity and/or chronic conditions that are linked to obesity, improving the ability of older adults (50+) to remain in their own homes with the same or improved quality of life, and reducing and/or preventing prescription drug and opioid use. These priorities have been set for the 2021-2022 NHC program year by AmeriCorps.
