Description: POP promotes collaborative care relationships where people feel comfortable accessing health services and discussing their personal health needs. Using supportive language and behavior to create affirming and positive environments allows for open conversation about all aspects of a person’s health. Through affirming care practices, people are viewed and treated as unique individuals influenced by cultural experiences and identities they hold.

Purpose: Inspire care teams to provide affirming care for all, especially those who have been systematically marginalized. Everyone is affirmed through reflective practice so that people in our care do not have to check part of who they are at the door. Create collaborative, accountable environments that increase awareness and identify opportunities for change.

Timeline: Requires a twelve-month engagement.

Process: Leads care teams through four modules, using videos created by LGBTQ+ Individuals of Color that spark open dialogue and are supported by promotional materials.
