The Illinois Department of Public Health, through the Regional Implementation Group (RIG), allocates over $1.3 million in federal and state HIV prevention funds to Region 8, Suburban Cook County, for high-impact, targeted prevention initiatives, including:

• Targeted and routine HIV screening
• STI and viral hepatitis testing
• Behavioral interventions
• Linkage to care and medication for those most at risk or living with HIV/AIDS

PHIMC serves as the lead agent for Region 8, working with 14 partner organizations to ensure successful implementation of high-quality and effective programming by building capacity, providing training and technical assistance, partner management, fiscal and program monitoring, data analysis, reporting for regional partner agencies, and leading a collaborative community planning process for the region.

The work of PHIMC and our funded partners plays an essential role in the Getting to Zero Illinois Plan and the National Strategy for Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S.
