Second chances

It was amazing to know the services extended to the reentry population but most of the public is not a welcoming atmosphere specially the livelihood aspect. We always hear everyone is entitled to a second chance, but those second chances were so difficult and unreachable to the reentry individual.

Substance Use Curriculum

Last year, our AmeriCorps member created a new substance use curriculum to use in schools which is tailored to Chicago, and has specific resources and materials for our city. This year, our member is implementing this curriculum, and it’s going great.

LGBTQ+ Sex Ed

I really really appreciated the LGBTQ+ Sex Ed workshop, queer sex education is rarely talked about and it is usually very difficult for young people to ask about those kinds of topics, and school rarely teaches anything other than ‘don’t get pregnant!’ lol. I also appreciated the opportunity to ask anonymous questions 🙂
