The Public Health Institute of Metropolitan Chicago (PHIMC) Board of Directors today announced the appointment of Karen Reitan to the position of Executive Director, effective June 1, 2014. Ms. Reitan replaces Patrick Lenihan, PhD who is retiring after serving in the position since 2007. “We are grateful to have worked under Dr. Lenihan’s leadership for so long,” said Dr Rossana Barrera, PHIMC Board Chair. “But are equally gratified to know that Karen will be stepping up after serving as Associate Executive Director during Dr. Lenihan’s tenure”, she added. Patrick Lenihan was one of PHIMC’s founders and has guided the organization’s strategic development in serving in several capacities since 1994. “It has been a great experience building an organization and team during a period of such profound change in public health”, said Dr. Lenihan, who also holds a faculty position at the University of Illinois at Chicago, School of Public Health.
