PHIMC’s annual Illinois Reentry Conference brings together people who are justice-impacted, their families, their advocates, and professionals from medical and non-medical community-based and healthcare settings for a day of honest dialogue to transform the way we advocate for and work with people who are justice-impacted. Promoting systems of health and healing for those impacted by the criminal justice system, the 2026 Illinois Reentry Conference aims to advance equity in health justice for justice-impacted people.

The 2026 Illinois Reentry Conference will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Malcolm X College at 1900 West Jackson Blvd, Chicago, IL 60612. Continuing education units will be available to those who attend the conference and complete the requirements. More information below. This event is free and open to the public, offering a platform for collaboration, education and innovation.

Developing leaders

The goal for us is grassroots organizing and really developing leaders to have a seat at the table to address and eliminate these barriers.

Marlon Chamberlain, Founder/Executive Director of Illinois Coalition to End Permanent Punishment, at the 2025 Illinois Reentry Conference

Collaboration is a powerful tool

Don’t give up the fight, don’t give up the networking, don’t give up the determination to try to come up with something creative and innovative. Don’t feel like you have to be the only one to create something. Collaboration is a powerful tool.

Jeannette Webb, The Chicago Center for HIV Elimination, at the 2025 Illinois Reentry Conference

Transition Support

What brings us back to today? To learn and teach, to listen and tell, to recommit to the essential work of supporting people living with and made vulnerable to HIV as they transition from incarceration to community.

Karen A. Reitan, PHIMC President and CEO, at the 2025 Illinois Reentry Conference

All the folks involved

It’s great to … see all the folks that are involved, not just justice-involved but on the professional side, as well, all the reentry folks … it makes my heart happy.

Iris Lewis, Cara Collective, at the 2025 Illinois Reentry Conference
