Join the Youth Health Conference Committee

Are you between 16-24 years old and passionate about making a difference in your Chicago community? Or do you have young people in your life who would enjoy this opportunity? Here’s your chance to get involved with something big. PHIMC is looking for a diverse group of young people to help plan and shape the Youth Health Conference happening on Saturday, May 10, 2025. This conference is all about bringing young people and adult allies together to talk about important health issues like mental health, LGBTQ+ health, substance use prevention, harm reduction, preventing homelessness, HIV awareness, justice system impacts, and other systems that impact youth’s well-being.

We want you to be a part of the planning team! You’ll help us create an event that sparks meaningful conversations, connects people across Chicago, and tackles health topics that matter to you.

What’s in it for you?

  • Leadership development: Learn about public health, event planning, and making an impact in your community.

  • Hands-on experience: Be a part of a real-world conference experience, from brainstorming ideas to seeing them come to life.

  • Stipend: You’ll be compensated $900 for your time and contributions.

  • Fun & Flexibility: Participate in virtual meetings, in-person retreats, and help make the conference unforgettable.

We need your ideas and energy!

You’ll help shape the event’s agenda, themes, give feedback on the planning process, and brainstorm fun ways to keep everyone engaged. Plus, you’ll be part of a group of like-minded youth and public health pros who share your passion for change.

The committee will run from March to June 2025. We’ll meet approximately 2 times per month, both virtually and in person. Virtual meetings will be about two hours and in person meetings will be four hours. Our first meeting together will be in person. We also ask that committee members come to the full conference in person on Saturday, May 10, 2025. At PHIMC, we care about Equity, Authenticity, Responsiveness, and Togetherness, and we’d love for everyone on the youth committee to keep these values in mind as we work together!

Applications closed on Tuesday, February 25. Thank you to everyone who applied.

Wonderful initiative! Will extend this opportunity to the Greater Englewood district. It’s my hope the conference can touch in youth experiences with sleep deprivation and heat effect impacts. Both that are impacting behavioral health. Also, can the youth become familiar with the State policy governing Poor Health equals Violence concepts.

    Thanks for this programming.
