Over the last several days, the Trump administration has released two executive orders directly impacting LGBTQ+ youth, particularly trans and nonbinary youth. One targets schools that support their LGBTQ+ students and staff and the other targets access to affirming healthcare. While aimed at two different systems, schools and healthcare, these executive orders threaten to pull federal funding from those who support and affirm the identities of LGBTQ+ youth. These orders are illegal and will be challenged in the courts. Regardless, they are understandably raising concerns and incredible amounts of fear across our communities. The full impact of these orders is yet to be seen, but we know that this will cause unimaginable harm to the young people in our lives.
Alongside many of you, PHIMC’s commitment to creating safe and affirming learning environments for LGBTQ+ youth is unwavering. We invite you to learn more about our work here.
