SUMMARY:Workshop: Addressing Intersectional Considerations for the LGBTQ+ Community: Culture\, Sexuality\, and Historical Trauma
DESCRIPTION:This free virtual training is for healthcare professionals\, including physicians\, nurses\, physician assistants\, pharmacists\, mental health providers\, substance abuse professionals\, social workers\, case managers\, and public health professionals. SUMMARY:Transgender and Gender Diverse Wellness and Equity Program: NNPHI Presentation
DESCRIPTION:PHIMC’s Transgender and Gender Diverse (TGD) Wellness and Equity Program builds capacity for organizations serving the TGD/LGBTQ+ community to provide culturally and/or medically competent gender affirming care including psychosocial\, behavioral\, and medical interventions to enable people that identify as transgender\, gender diverse\, intersex\, lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, and queer to thrive. During this lightning-round session at the National Network of Public Health Institutes’ Annual Conference\, Katie Morin\, Managing Director of Public Health Practice\, will discuss the need for and importance of gender affirming care\, PHIMC’s approach to equitable funding distribution and management practices for expanding gender affirming care in Illinois\, the activities and services implemented by subgrantees\, and reflect on how these efforts address social determinants of health\, trauma\, and the unique needs of BIPOC communities..
